Easily one of my favorites from Ghost Reveries. I think i once read an interview that was done with Mikael where he said this song was about the loss of an old love who had isolated herself from all of her close friends and relatives during an intense depression which ultimately ended with her suicide. Maybe i dreamt that, i haven’t been able to find that interview to confirm it but thats a pretty intense and sad story to say the least. Just thinking that it is true adds so much more weight to the lyrics and the song.

THEE definitive Opeth line-up…as far as I’m concerned. Their most prolific and inspiring material was made with that line-up (except Per was in the group as well).

The metal burp…
That part of the song when the band goes into a breakdown or something and the singer doesn’t really scream but give a short outcry that almost sounds like a metal burp. Ill be discussing this phenomenon in the metal world soon. Just getting things put together so when I do talk about it you’ll all be able to follow along with me.
